About The Homesick Hitchers

The Homesick Hitchers is an all acoustic group from San Diego that plays a mix of traditional-sounding bluegrass songs with tinges of jam, jazz, funk, folk, old-time and rock.
The band’s self-titled album was released in fall of 2013 consisting of entirely original material written by all the members. The follow up album, “Been Gone For Years” was released in 2017, again with original material by all the members of the band.
Since the group’s first show in 2012 – a gig opening for Bay Area jamgrassers Poor Man’s Whiskey – The Homesick Hitchers have shared the stage with a variety of bluegrass, newgrass and jamgrass groups including Hot Buttered Rum, Tony Trishka, Cornmeal, New Monsoon and more. The Homesick Hitchers have also performed at bars, clubs and venues all over San Diego County as well as performed at several music festivals including the Santee Bluegrass Festival, The Lost Sierra Hoedown and Another family Affair.
From its inception, The Homesick Hitchers have always aimed to make its live show an all-out party that leaves audience members with a smile on their faces and in need of a foot massage.
The Homesick Hitchers are:
Brent Gutzwiller – banjo
Jeff Clemetson – bass
Tyler TenBrock – guitar/mandolin
John Blackwood – guitar/dobro
